Be confident about who you let inside your home

Public Liability Insurance

I have public liability insurance to cover against accidental bodily injury or damage to the property of third parties.

Current CRB check

The work of a handy man involves working in other people's homes. You want to be sure that the person you employ is trustworthy.

I volunteer at youth centres in my spare time and have therefore undergone a background check by the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB). The Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) is an Executive Agency of the Home Office, set up to help people make safer recruitment decisions.

The Standard CRB check is primarily to ensure that a person poses no threat to vulnerable adults or children.

Standard checks involve looking at whether a person has any criminal convictions, cautions, reprimands and warnings held in England and Wales on the Police National Computer, though most of the relevant convictions in Scotland and Northern Ireland may also be included. It also checks Protection of Children Act List (PoCA) and the Vulnerable Adults List (POVA).
